The mission of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) as a nationally and internationally active research institute is to deliver solutions for an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable agriculture – together with society. ZALF is a member of the Leibniz Association and is located in Müncheberg (approx. 35 minutes by regional train from Berlin-Lichtenberg). It also maintains a research station with further locations in Dedelow and Paulinenaue.

We offer a student assistant position in the project “Optimal Nitrogen (N) for future agricultural landscapes: digital technologies to optimize trade-offs”. The focus is on combining point field measurements, environmental monitoring tools, and proximal and remote sensing technologies to quantify cropping system N dynamics in a newly installed landscape experiment focusing on spatio-temporal crop diversification.

Part of the project is to conduct soil and biomass sampling for measuring Nitrogen across different patches and fields during different phenological stages. To support our field activities, we are looking for a student assistant position for 3 months, starting earliest July 2023 until end of September. The contract can be 32 hours/month or 8 hours/ week) at our site in Müncheberg.

Your tasks:

  • support soil and biomass sampling campaigns during summer
  • sample processing
  • post-processing of data, cleaning and preparation for analysis

Your qualifications:

  • B. Sc. in agriculture, environmental sciences or related disciplines, also current B. Sc students are welcome to apply
  • experience in field work
  • driving license (advantageous)
